Our Sacramento Cosmetic Surgery Center

Our goal is to make your surgical experience safe, comfortable and successful. For your privacy, we offer a separate entrance and a separate exit to our Sacramento cosmetic surgery center.

Dr. David Kaufman and Dr. Christa Clark perform surgery in their fully accredited, state-of-the-art operating room. This outpatient facility is certified by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF). Operating Room

The surgical center is fully equipped with the latest monitoring, anesthesia and surgical equipment and resembles that of an operating room at a hospital. Our highly trained staff includes board-certified anesthesiologists from Mercy Folsom Hospital, ICU and trauma trained registered nurses and surgical technicians. Although Dr. Kaufman and Dr. Clark perform most procedures in our operating room, both doctors have privileges at Mercy Folsom Hospital just a block from our office.

Recovery Room

The Day of Your Surgery

Going to the operating room is not a routine experience for most of us. Drs. Kaufman and Clark and all of the professional staff caring for you recognize the natural anxiety most patients have about surgery. We believe a brief description of the surgery experience will be helpful.

  • Your surgery will be performed in our state-of-the-art, fully accredited operating room. You will be taken care of by board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Kaufman or Dr. Clark, registered ICU/trauma trained nurses, board-certified anesthesiologists from Mercy Folsom Hospital and a surgical technician.
  • When you arrive at our surgical center, you will be escorted to the pre-operative holding area by a nurse. You will change into a gown and a surgical cap placed over your hair. The nurse will start your intravenous drip, take your vital signs and give you your pre-operative medications. Dr. Kaufman or Dr. Clark and the anesthesiologist will meet with you before surgery. This is the time for final surgical planning and questions. It is also when we will do basic preparation and marking as needed.
  • Once you enter the operating room, the staff will do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and secure. You will be connected to monitoring equipment and monitored throughout the entire surgery by the anesthesiologist. Once your surgery is completed and your dressings are in place, you will be moved back to the pre-operative/recovery area. You will be re-connected to monitoring equipment. During this time, the nurse will take care of you and remain with you at all times. This is also the time for your caretaker to be with you until you are ready to go home.
  • Your stay in the recovery room will last from 45 minutes or longer depending on how soon you are ready to leave. Most patients are fully awake within 30 minutes after surgery but may not remember much about their stay in the recovery room. The nurse will remove your IV and your monitoring equipment when you are stable. The doctor and the anesthesiologist will check you before you leave to make sure you are ready to go home. The nurse will help you dress and assist you to your vehicle.
  • Dr. Kaufman or Dr. Clark will call you in the evening to check on you and we'll look forward to seeing you the first day after surgery to begin assisting you through the recovery process.
